Lessons I Learned in Life and Business After 100 Episodes (and what’s next!)

Welcome to the 100th episode of From Overwhelmed to Under Control! I can’t believe we’ve made it this far, and I’m so excited to celebrate with you. Over these past 100 episodes, I’ve shared stories, tips, and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes content about navigating life, business, and everything in between. But today’s episode is special—because it's not just about celebrating this huge milestone. It’s also about reflecting on the number one lesson I’ve learned from these episodes and my journey in business. Let’s dive in!

From Time Management to Business Coaching: My Evolution

When I first started my business, I was all about time management and productivity. If you’ve listened to the earlier episodes of this podcast, you know that productivity is still at the core of what I do. But I’ve learned a lot along the way, especially when it comes to starting a business while working full-time and balancing the messiness of life.

I began my business journey in 2020 with no kids and a lot of time to focus on building my business. I was helping anyone who felt overwhelmed by their to-do lists—small business owners, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders—anyone who needed help managing their time better. I truly believed that if people could take control of their time, everything else would fall into place.

However, things weren’t that simple, especially once I became a mom. And that’s when I realized the one key lesson from my 100 episodes:

The Biggest Lesson: You Can’t Do It All, and That’s Okay

This realization didn’t come easy. As I worked with more moms starting their businesses while managing full-time jobs and family life, I realized that time management alone wasn’t enough. They had the drive, the passion, and the hustle, but they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of tasks that came with running a business while juggling a family.

So, what did I do? I started embracing patience, mindset work, and realistic expectations. I began teaching my clients how to work smarter, not harder, and how to build businesses that didn’t require 80-hour work weeks (because, let’s be real, who has that kind of time?). And I learned to apply those same principles to my life, especially once I had my son.

The Shift: Embracing the Chaos

When I became a mom, I realized that my old systems didn’t work for this new phase of life. I couldn’t control everything, and checklists and routines no longer dictated my days. This shift made me rethink everything I knew about productivity and business-building.

Embrace the chaos became my new mantra. I learned that being productive isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about doing what matters most and finding balance in the mess. This change in mindset made all the difference in how I ran my business and how I coached my clients.

The Key to Success: Systems That Work for YOU

As a business coach for women working full-time and building their businesses, I’ve had the privilege of helping others find systems that work for them. It’s not just about the tools—it’s about creating personalized workflows that fit your life. So here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Time management isn’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone’s capacity is different, and you can’t force yourself into someone else’s system.

  • Patience is essential. Success doesn’t come overnight, and it’s okay to slow down and focus on what’s important, even when it feels like things aren’t progressing fast enough.

  • You don’t need to do everything. Focus on high-impact tasks that drive revenue and growth, and delegate where you can.

What’s Next for Me and My Business?

Now that we’ve reached 100 episodes, I’m so excited about the future. As I continue to grow, I’m also rebranding my coaching program from The Shit Show Success System to The Exit Strategy for Corporate Moms. This program is all about helping working moms transition from their 9-to-5 jobs into building businesses that offer flexibility and freedom—without burnout.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • More practical advice for balancing life and business while working full-time.

  • Actionable steps to build and grow your business, even when you only have limited time.

  • Mindset coaching to help you embrace your “mess” and create systems that work for you.

Shout-Outs and Thank-Yous

Before I wrap up, I want to take a moment to thank some incredible people who have helped me get here:

  • My coaches, specifically Tay Daniels, who pushed me to grow and scale my business.

  • Megan, my former bookkeeper, who helped me gain confidence in managing my finances.

  • Dorcas, my former podcast manager, who helped streamline my podcast and made it the marketing tool it is today.

  • My husband and family, who have been nothing but supportive through every step of my entrepreneurial journey.

What’s Coming Next?

I am thrilled to announce that my Exit Strategy for Corporate Moms program is ready to help you take the leap from your 9-to-5 into building a sustainable business. The doors open December 6, 2024!!

The podcast will also evolve to include more business coaching, mindset tips, and stories from moms who are making this transition. So, stay tuned for more episodes that dive deeper into how to start a business while working full-time, and how to manage the chaos along the way.

Thank you for being part of this amazing journey. I couldn’t have made it this far without you. I’m so excited to continue sharing, teaching, and growing with you. Here’s to the next 100 episodes!
