Ep. 52 - How To Be Booked Out, Not Burnt Out
Many of the conversations I have with potential and current clients are of them telling me they don't think that they need help with time management productivity.
This is because, from the outside, they are keeping all the balls in the air, not missing deadlines, and seem to be handling things well. But internally, they are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, and they're not making progress in the way that they hope to.
But it doesn’t have to be that way!
My clients are saving five-plus hours a week, making money, feeling less stressed, and having the time freedom that they wanted as entrepreneurs.
Keep reading for the three main areas I focus on with each client!
Three focus areas if you want to go from overwhelmed to under control
1. Personalized productivity systems.
You won’t get productivity with a specific tool. There’s no magic bullet to get everything done. True change comes from experimentation and figuring out what works best for you, what you can be consistent with, and what you enjoy using so that organization comes easily to you and you're able to be consistent with it.
2. Change of mindset.
Increasing productivity comes with undoing years of bad habits, like saying yes, when you want to say no, not resting or taking care of yourself because you feel guilty or feel like you don't have time, or putting too much in your to-do list every day, which means you constantly feel behind and like a failure or procrastination, perfectionism. All of these things are less about our ability to do the task and more about how we're approaching our day and approaching the work that we are doing on a day-to-day basis. So that mindset piece is absolutely critical to make all of this work together.
3. Supportive community of like-minded people
Keeping yourself surrounded by people who motivate you is so important for lifelong changes. Getting into a community with a group of people who are trying a new way to work and can share their experiences and wins so that we can learn from each other is empowering.
We'll troubleshoot together, commiserate, and support each other through these changes in a way that doesn't make you feel crazy, a loser, or a failure or that you should already know how to do this stuff.
Testimonial
Britt is a social media manager who came to me because she was really struggling to accomplish all of her tasks. Just like me, she had a podcast, she was group coaching, she had 1 on 1 coaching clients, and she was also doing some contract work on the side.
When we started, she was working 14 hours a day, wasn't taking a lot of breaks and was working all through the weekend. And it was starting to impact her relationship. And she wanted to be able to go out and do fun stuff in her community.
So I asked her. How she felt after we worked together for a few months, and this is what she said.
“I now work eight to nine hours a day, five days a week and I feel more confident in my ability to take on new clients. I can identify when I'm not being productive and change course, and I can communicate my boundaries and meet with myself and my team more effectively. I’m no longer working weekends, and since starting this program, I read 10 books just for fun”
